FAQ
How do I use Whisper?
Put devices on the same LAN, find the other device through discovery or QR, then confirm the same pairing code on both sides. QR pairing needs no extra password.
What file types are supported?
All types, with no size limit — just keep an eye on available local storage.
How fast are transfers?
Actual speed depends on Wi-Fi signal, device performance, and disk speed. Encryption and SHA-256 verification stream with the transfer, so normal completion does not reread the entire large file.
Is the data secure?
Paired application data is end-to-end encrypted, and the UI shows identity and trust state. LAN connection metadata and local staged files are not hidden or encrypted at rest.
Can I preview received media?
Yes. Images open full screen, audio plays inline, and video or other files open through an available system app.
Can interrupted transfers resume?
Yes. Large file transfers can resume after reconnecting.
Can it share desktop audio?
Yes, on desktop. Linux needs PulseAudio or PipeWire Pulse compatibility.
Can a PC control another desktop with K/M?
Yes. macOS, Windows, and Linux can act as source or receiver and share text, image, and file clipboard content inside the workspace. Linux currently requires X11.
